The Nutcracker
In 2006 Dance Fredericton embarked on a multi-year initiative to develop a full scale Nutcracker Ballet, thereby providing the city of Fredericton with its own Christmas fairy-tale ballet, showcasing ballerinas of all ages from the greater Fredericton area, dancing alongside professional guest soloists; a true community production of world class caliber.
The project has, and will continue to see us partner, with the professional dance community in Canada, in the training and mentoring of our Nutcracker students. We have been very fortunate to bring in dancers and instructors from the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Atlantic Ballet Theatre.
A venture of this magnitude represents a major financial investment for Dance Fredericton. The initial costs for costuming, sets and choreography are significant. Dance Fredericton is very grateful to the City of Fredericton andmany other local sponsors for their support .
Dance Fredericton partners with the NBCCD, Atlantic Canada designers and trades people from the local community to create original costumes, sets and props to enhance this uniquely Fredericton production of "The Nutcracker Ballet".
